What is ClinCheck? Your Invisalign plan explained

ClinCheck is Invisalign’s digital treatment plan: a 3D animation, built from your iTero scan, showing how each tooth is planned to move, stage by stage. At Toothi in Edgware the iTero scan is free and done in-house, and ClinCheck is included in every Invisalign package from £1,495. It’s a plan rather than a promise, and below we explain what that means.
Three Tools
What’s the difference between iTero, SmileView and ClinCheck?
They’re three steps in the same process. The iTero scan captures your teeth. SmileView gives a quick visual idea of a possible outcome. ClinCheck is the detailed, dentist-designed plan your aligners are made from.
- ✓ iTero scan. A small wand takes thousands of images to build an accurate 3D model of your teeth in a few minutes, with no putty impressions. We use an iTero Lumina scanner in the practice, and the scan is free.
- ✓ SmileView. A simulation, created from a photo of your face, showing what your smile might look like with straighter teeth. It’s there to help you decide whether treatment is worth looking into. It isn’t a clinical plan.
- ✓ ClinCheck. The treatment plan itself. Your dentist sets out each tooth movement, where attachments and IPR are needed, and how many aligners you’ll wear.
How It Works
How is a ClinCheck plan made?
Free scan
At your free consultation we take an iTero 3D scan and photos, and talk through what you’d like to change.
Dentist planning
Your dentist reviews the proposed movements and adjusts them tooth by tooth to suit your bite and goals.
You review it
We show you the ClinCheck animation and go through the stages and the likely number of aligners, with your fixed fee in writing.
Approve & begin
Only when you’re happy do we approve the plan and order your aligners.
Honest Expectations
Is the ClinCheck simulation a guaranteed result?
No. ClinCheck shows the planned movement, and real teeth don’t always track exactly to plan. How close your result gets depends on your biology, your case and, most of all, wearing your aligners 20–22 hours a day.
That’s why refinement aligners are included in every Toothi package. If a tooth lags behind, we rescan and plan a short extra series to finish the job. Refinements are a normal part of treatment. Needing them doesn’t mean anything has gone wrong. Our guide to Invisalign refinements explains how they work. Fixed Fees
Does ClinCheck cost extra?
No. The consultation and iTero scan are free, and the ClinCheck plan is included in every Invisalign package, along with all reviews, refinements if needed, removable and fixed retainers, an Airflow hygiene clean and Boutique whitening.

What is Invisalign ClinCheck?
ClinCheck is Invisalign’s treatment-planning software. It turns your iTero scan into a 3D animation showing how each tooth is planned to move, stage by stage.
Is ClinCheck accurate?
It’s an accurate plan of the intended movement, but not a guaranteed result. Teeth don’t always track exactly, which is why refinements are included at Toothi.
Can I change my ClinCheck plan?
Yes. Before approval we can adjust the plan if something isn’t what you hoped for, within what’s clinically sensible.
Is the iTero scan free?
Yes. At Toothi the Invisalign consultation and iTero 3D scan are free and done in the practice.
What is SmileView?
SmileView is a simulation created from a photo of your face, showing what your smile might look like with straighter teeth. It’s an illustration, not a treatment plan.
How long does it take to get my ClinCheck?
It usually follows your scan once the dentist has reviewed and adjusted the plan. We’ll tell you when to expect it at your consultation.
