The Harrow patients who travel to us for implants are disproportionately the bigger cases: people at the end of the road with a full upper denture, or facing the loss of the last few teeth in an arch. It’s the hardest thing in dentistry to get right, and the easiest to get badly wrong. Every case is planned, placed and restored personally by Dr Ali El-Kabengi (GDC 270807).

The Problem

The denture endpoint

Most people don’t arrive at a full denture in one step. A tooth goes, then another, then a partial denture, then more teeth, and eventually there’s nothing left to clasp onto. The full denture that follows relies on suction and on the shape of the gum ridge — and that ridge, as we’ve covered, shrinks year after year once the roots are gone. So the denture that fitted in 2018 is loose in 2026, and it will be looser in 2030. Adhesive is a coping strategy, not a solution.

What people describe is rarely primarily about looks. It’s about not being able to bite into things, about being wary in restaurants, about a plate moving when they laugh.

What Implants Do

Fixed teeth on implants

A full arch does not need a full set of implants. A relatively small number of implants — the exact figure depends on your bone and your bite, and any clinic quoting a fixed number before scanning you is guessing — can support a complete fixed bridge of teeth that you do not remove, that don’t move, and that you eat with normally.

The bone stops receding where the implants load it. You clean it like teeth, not like a denture.

There’s also an intermediate option worth knowing about: an implant-retained overdenture, where a denture clips firmly onto a couple of implants. It still comes out at night, but it doesn’t move when you eat or speak. It costs considerably less than a fixed arch, and for some patients it’s absolutely the right answer.

Why Toothi

Why the planning is everything

Full-arch work is where the gulf between clinics shows. It depends on a 3D assessment of the bone, a plan for exactly how many implants this arch needs and where they go, the surgical stage, a healing period during which you are never without teeth, and a final restoration built to a bite that has to work for decades.

Getting it wrong is expensive, uncomfortable and genuinely difficult to put right. That’s the argument for one clinician holding the entire case: Dr Ali plans, places and restores it himself, and reviews it afterwards. Toothi holds a 4.9-star rating across 130+ Google reviews and opens seven days a week, including Sundays.

Second Opinions

Bring your quote

We see a lot of Harrow patients holding full-arch quotes and unsure what to make of them. The consultation and the 3D scan are free, with no obligation. We’ll look at whether the number of implants proposed is the number the arch actually needs, whether the grafting is genuinely required, and whether the price is fair. Common Questions

Dental implants in Harrow FAQs

How much does a dental implant cost in Harrow?

At Toothi in Edgware, a direct 340 bus from Harrow, a single dental implant starts from £1,995 including the crown — around £55 a month on finance. The implant consultation is free, including a 3D scan worth £250. Multiple-implant and full-arch fees depend on the case and are quoted after assessment.

Can implants replace a full denture?

Yes. A relatively small number of implants can support a full fixed bridge you never remove. There’s also an implant-retained overdenture — a denture that clips firmly onto a couple of implants, still removable but stable, at considerably lower cost.

How many implants do I need for a full arch?

It depends on your bone volume and your bite, and it can only be determined from a 3D scan. Be cautious of any clinic quoting a fixed number before they’ve scanned you.

Will I be without teeth during full-arch treatment?

No. You’ll have a temporary fixed set of teeth throughout the healing period. You won’t leave the practice without teeth at any stage.

Can I get a second opinion on a full-arch implant quote?

Yes, and it’s free, including the 3D scan, with no obligation. We’ll assess whether the number of implants and the grafting proposed are genuinely necessary. The 340 bus runs from Harrow to Edgware Station, two minutes from us.
