If you live in Colindale and you’re missing a tooth — or you’ve been told a tooth can’t be saved — dental implants are the closest thing modern dentistry has to growing a new one. At Toothi Dental Clinic, just up the road in Edgware, implants start from £1,995, or from £55 per month with finance, and your first consultation is free.
We’re at 1 Handel Parade, Whitchurch Lane, Edgware HA8 6LD — two stops from Colindale station on the Northern line, or a short drive straight up the A5. Many of our implant patients come from Colindale, Grahame Park, Beaufort Park and the new developments around Colindale Gardens, because getting to us is often quicker than crossing into central London for treatment.
What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. It’s placed into the jawbone during a minor procedure done under local anaesthetic. Over the following weeks the bone bonds with the titanium — a natural process called osseointegration — so the implant becomes a solid anchor. A custom-made crown is then fitted on top, matched to the shape and shade of your own teeth.
The result looks, feels and works like a natural tooth. You can bite into an apple, chew on both sides, and smile without thinking about it. Unlike a bridge, an implant doesn’t need the neighbouring teeth to be drilled down, and unlike a denture, it doesn’t move or need to come out at night.
Who dental implants can help
Implants are suitable for most healthy adults with a fully developed jaw. They can be the right answer if you:
- ✓ have a single missing tooth — front or back — and want a fixed replacement;
- ✓ have several missing teeth and don’t want a partial denture;
- ✓ have a loose or uncomfortable denture and want it stabilised;
- ✓ have a failing tooth that needs to be removed and replaced;
- ✓ lost a tooth years ago and have noticed neighbouring teeth drifting into the gap.
The main things we check at your free consultation are the health of your gums and the amount of bone available to hold the implant. Smoking, uncontrolled gum disease and some medical conditions can affect healing, so we’ll go through your history carefully and give you an honest recommendation — including telling you if an implant is not the best option for you. You can read about the alternatives in our guide to implants vs dentures vs bridges.

Replacing more than one tooth
Implants aren’t just for single gaps. Two implants can support a bridge of three or four teeth, and a small number of implants can secure a full arch — a fixed alternative to a complete denture. If you’re missing several teeth, have a look at our multiple dental implants page, or book a free consultation and we’ll map out the options for your mouth specifically. For a single gap, our single dental implant page covers what’s involved.
Your implant journey, step by step
Free Consultation
You’ll meet Dr Ali El-Kabengi, who places implants personally at the practice. He’ll examine your mouth, take a 3D scan of your jaw, and talk through what’s possible. You’ll leave knowing whether implants are suitable, what the treatment would involve, and exactly what it would cost.
Planning
The 3D scan lets us plan the implant position precisely — checking bone depth and the position of nerves and sinuses before any treatment begins. Careful planning is what makes implant placement predictable and safe.
Implant Placement
The implant is placed under local anaesthetic, the same numbing used for a filling. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the appointment is. If you’re nervous, we also offer IV sedation.
Healing
Over the next few months the bone fuses to the implant. Depending on your case, you may wear a temporary tooth during this period, so you’re never left with a visible gap.
Your New Tooth
Once the implant is solid, we fit your final crown — custom-made to blend in with your smile. With good brushing, flossing and regular hygiene visits, implants can last for decades.

Dental implants in Colindale FAQs
How much do dental implants cost near Colindale?
At Toothi in Edgware — two stops from Colindale on the Northern line — dental implants start from £1,995, or from £55 per month with finance. Your consultation and 3D scan assessment are free, and you’ll receive a fixed written price before any treatment begins.
Does getting a dental implant hurt?
The placement is done under local anaesthetic, so the area is completely numb during the procedure. Afterwards, most patients describe mild tenderness for a few days, similar to having a tooth removed, and manage it with ordinary painkillers. IV sedation is available for nervous patients.
How long does implant treatment take?
Most single-implant cases take three to six months from placement to final crown, because the bone needs time to bond with the implant. The exact timeline depends on your healing and whether any preparatory work, such as an extraction or bone graft, is needed — we’ll give you a personal timeline at your free consultation.
Am I too old for dental implants?
There’s no upper age limit for implants. What matters is your general health, your gum health and having enough bone to support the implant — all things we assess at your consultation. Many of our implant patients are in their 60s, 70s and beyond.
Can I get dental implants on the NHS?
NHS funding for implants is limited to specific medical situations — for example after mouth cancer surgery or facial trauma — and is arranged through hospital services rather than high-street practices. For a missing tooth in everyday circumstances, implant treatment is private, which is why we keep our pricing transparent and offer finance to spread the cost.
How long do dental implants last?
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, implants can last for decades — many last a lifetime. The crown on top may need replacing after many years of wear, much like a crown on a natural tooth. Daily cleaning and hygiene visits are the key to long-term success.
Is Toothi easy to reach from Beaufort Park or Grahame Park?
Yes — from Beaufort Park, Colindale station is a short walk and Edgware is two stops north on the Northern line. From Grahame Park, buses and the A5 both run directly towards Edgware. Most patients find door-to-door takes 15–20 minutes.
If you’re in Colindale and thinking about replacing a missing tooth, the easiest first step is a free, no-obligation consultation. You’ll get a proper assessment, a 3D scan, honest advice about all your options and a fixed written price — with no pressure to go ahead. We’re open seven days a week at 1 Handel Parade, Whitchurch Lane, Edgware HA8 6LD.
