A single dental implant with its crown costs £2,000–£3,500 at most UK private practices in 2026, and £2,400–£3,000 at full-price clinics in central London. At Toothi in Edgware, North London, a single implant is £1,995 including the Osstem implant, the abutment, the porcelain crown and every review appointment. The CBCT 3D scan needed before placement is taken at a referral imaging centre and paid to them directly, so it isn’t in the £1,995. A bone graft or sinus lift is only added if your scan shows you need one — and unlike most practices, we publish those prices too.

Every one of those market figures came from a practice’s own published fee page, not an estimate. The pattern is consistent: outer London and Hertfordshire practices charge £2,300–£2,500 for a single implant, central London £2,350–£2,950, and the big national brands £2,100–£2,400. Where the numbers really diverge is the add-ons — a minor bone graft is £350–£500 in Hertfordshire and £700–£1,200 in W1 for the same procedure. Two people can be quoted £2,400 and £3,500 for the same tooth, which is why “how much are dental implants?” has no single answer: the cost of dental implants in the UK turns on what a quote leaves out — the crown, the abutment, the scan, any graft — far more than on the implant itself. Compare teeth implant prices in the UK on the finished total, never on the headline.
What a “single implant” price should include
A finished implant tooth is three components, and this is where quotes stop being comparable. Some advertised prices cover only the first one.
- The implant — the titanium post placed in the jaw, which takes the place of the root. Toothi uses the Osstem TS system.
- The abutment — the connector between the post and the tooth on top. Often quoted separately at £250–£600.
- The crown — the visible tooth, matched to the shade and shape of its neighbours. Often quoted separately at £600–£1,350.
Then there are the things around it: the CBCT 3D scan needed to plan the placement (£95–£175 at many practices), the surgical guide, temporary teeth while you heal, and the review appointments afterwards. When you compare two prices, ask one question of each: “Is that the total for the finished tooth, and what isn’t included?” Our £1,995 is the finished tooth — implant, abutment, crown and reviews.
The add-ons most practices don’t price: bone grafts and sinus lifts
Of the 28 UK fee pages we checked, nine give a price for bone grafting and only three distinguish an internal sinus lift from a lateral one. Most say “quoted after assessment” or leave the row blank, which is how a £2,400 headline becomes a £3,500 plan.
When you might need one. If a tooth has been missing for a year or more, the bone where the root used to be shrinks. An implant needs enough bone height and width to hold it. In the lower jaw that usually means a small graft at the time of placement; in the upper back teeth the sinus sits close above the bone, so the floor of the sinus sometimes has to be lifted to make room.
What we charge. A minor graft or socket preservation is from £395; a larger graft with a membrane is from £995. An internal (crestal) sinus lift is £595; a lateral-window sinus lift is from £1,195. Your CBCT scan, taken at a referral imaging centre after the free consultation, shows exactly which, if any, you need, and it goes into your written plan before you commit — never as a surprise on the day.
Replacing more than one tooth
Replacing several teeth rarely means one implant per tooth.
- Two teeth in different places — two implants. At Toothi the second implant placed at the same visit is £1,795, because it shares your scan, consultation and surgery time. Almost no practice publishes this figure; ask for it.
- Three teeth in a row — an implant bridge on two implants, with the middle tooth suspended between them. £4,495 at Toothi against £4,000–£5,200 nationally and £5,000–£6,250 in London.
- A whole arch, removable — an implant-retained denture that clips onto two to four implants. £7,995 per arch at Toothi.
- A whole arch, fixed — the fixed bridge on four or six implants often sold as All-on-4. £10,000–£25,000 per arch in the UK and more in central London. We don’t provide this at Toothi; if your consultation shows you need it, we’ll say so and refer you to a colleague we trust.
Why dental implant prices in the UK vary so much
- Postcode. The implant systems used in Mayfair are the ones used in Edgware. A large part of a £3,000 W1 quote is rent.
- What’s included. Headline prices that exclude the crown, the abutment, the scan or the reviews.
- Add-ons. Grafts and sinus lifts, priced or not priced up front.
- The implant brand. Premium Swiss and Swedish systems add £300–£700 to some quotes; Osstem is a Korean system with more than 20 years of published clinical data and is one of the most widely placed implants in the world.
- Who places it. Implants in the UK are placed by dentists with additional training, by dentists with a special interest, and by specialist oral surgeons and periodontists. The GDC does not recognise “implantologist” as a specialty — anyone using the word is describing an interest, not a registered qualification.
Can you get dental implants on the NHS?
Very rarely. NHS implants are limited to patients with a clear medical need — after mouth cancer surgery, serious facial trauma, or a developmental condition where teeth never formed — and are provided through hospital referral, not a high-street dentist. A tooth lost to decay, gum disease or an accident is not normally eligible. For almost everyone, implants are a private treatment, which is why comparing genuine, all-inclusive prices matters. If you think you may qualify, ask your NHS dentist for a referral to a hospital restorative department.
Dental implants in Turkey: why they’re cheaper and what to weigh up
A single implant in Turkey is commonly advertised at £500–£1,000, and a full arch at £3,000–£6,000. The saving is real. It comes from lower wages, property and lab costs, and from compressing treatment into one trip — placing the implant and fitting the final teeth within days rather than letting the bone heal around the implant for three to six months first.
What the price doesn’t cover is what happens afterwards. An implant needs reviewing for the rest of its working life, and a loose crown, a failed implant or an infection a year later is treated at home, at full price, by a dentist who didn’t place it and may not have the parts for that system. There is no UK regulatory route for a complaint, and no travel insurance covers elective treatment that goes wrong. Two questions to ask any overseas clinic before you book: which implant system, and who will look after it in the UK?
Implant vs bridge vs denture
| Dental implant | Conventional bridge | Denture | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toothi price | £1,995 | from £595 per unit (3 units for one missing tooth) | from £595 (partial) |
| Typical lifespan | 20+ years, often lifelong | 10–15 years | 5–8 years |
| Protects the jaw bone | Yes | No | No |
| Affects neighbouring teeth | No | Yes — they are cut down | No |
| Feels like your own tooth | Closest | Good | Variable |
A bridge or denture is cheaper on day one. Over a lifetime an implant usually works out better value, because it doesn’t sacrifice the healthy teeth either side, it keeps the bone that supports your face shape, and it doesn’t need remaking every few years. Longevity figures are typical ranges; individual outcomes depend on hygiene, health and habits.
How long do dental implants last?
The implant itself — the titanium post in the bone — has a survival rate above 95% at ten years in published studies and commonly lasts for decades. The crown on top is a wearing part and typically needs replacing after 10–15 years, like any crown. The single biggest factor in how long an implant lasts is the health of the gum around it, which is why we recommend an implant hygiene visit (£150) alongside your routine check-ups. Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and untreated gum disease shorten the odds; good hygiene and regular reviews lengthen them.
Spreading the cost
Any treatment over £250 at Toothi can be spread over up to 10 months at 0% interest, or over up to 60 months at 12.9% APR representative (fixed) for a lower monthly payment. Finance is provided by Tabeo, subject to status, and you can check your options in a couple of minutes without affecting your credit score. Frequently asked questions
How much is a dental implant for a single tooth in the UK?
£2,000–£3,500 including the crown at most UK private practices in 2026, with outer London and Hertfordshire clinics clustered at £2,300–£2,500 and central London at £2,400–£3,000. At Toothi in Edgware it is £1,995 including the implant, abutment, crown and reviews; the CBCT scan is taken at a referral imaging centre and paid separately.
How much do full mouth dental implants cost?
An implant-retained denture on two to four implants is £7,995 per arch at Toothi, against £6,000–£10,000 nationally. A fixed full-arch bridge (All-on-4 or All-on-6) is £10,000–£25,000 per arch in the UK. We don’t provide fixed full-arch treatment at Toothi and will refer you if you need it.
Can I get dental implants on the NHS?
Only with a clear medical need, such as after mouth cancer surgery, major facial trauma or a developmental condition where teeth never formed, and then through hospital referral. Routine tooth loss is not eligible.
Why are dental implants so cheap in Turkey?
Lower staff, property and laboratory costs, and treatment compressed into days rather than months of healing. The price doesn’t include aftercare, and any problem later is treated in the UK at full price by a dentist who didn’t place the implant.
Does having a dental implant placed hurt?
Placement is done under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn’t feel pain during the procedure — most patients describe it as easier than an extraction. Some soreness for a few days afterwards is normal and settles with ordinary painkillers.
How long does implant treatment take?
Typically three to six months from placement to final crown, to let the bone fuse to the implant. If you need a graft first, add three to six months. A temporary tooth can be fitted for front teeth so you’re never left with a gap.
Why is Toothi less expensive than central London for the same implant?
Same implant system, same 3D-guided planning, same GDC-registered dentist — without W1 rent. Toothi is in Edgware, 25 minutes from central London on the Northern line, and open at weekends.
