Implant-retained dentures in Edgware

An implant-retained denture is a full denture that clips onto two to four dental implants, so it stays put when you eat, talk and laugh, without adhesive. At Toothi London in Edgware an implant-retained denture is £7,995 per arch, whether your case needs two implants or four. Your consultation is free and ends with a written plan, so you know your full fee before anything begins.

Who an implant-retained denture is for

  • You wear a full denture and it moves, rubs or lifts when you eat.
  • You rely on denture adhesive, or avoid foods you used to enjoy.
  • Your lower denture in particular never feels secure. A lower denture has far less to grip than an upper, which is why it is the one most often anchored on implants.
  • You are about to lose your remaining teeth in one jaw and want a stable replacement from the start.

How it works

Implants are placed in the jaw and left to bond with the bone. Attachments on top of the implants then click into matching fittings inside the denture. The denture is held firmly in place but still comes out, so you take it out at night to clean it and the implants, just as you would a normal denture. Usually two implants are enough for a lower denture; an upper denture typically needs four, because the bone in the upper jaw is softer.

Your treatment, step by step

  1. Free consultation. We examine your mouth and your current denture, talk through what you want it to do better, and check whether implants are suitable for you.
  2. A 3D CBCT scan of your jaw. This shows how much bone there is and where the nerves and sinuses sit. It is taken at a referral imaging centre and paid to them directly; it is not included in the £7,995.
  3. Your written plan. How many implants you need, where they go, whether you need any bone grafting, and your total fee, in writing before you commit.
  4. Implant placement. Under local anaesthetic, in the practice.
  5. Healing. The implants are left to bond with the bone, typically for around three months, before your denture is fitted. Your own timeline is in your written plan; see how long implant treatment takes.
  6. Fitting. The attachments are connected and your denture is fitted to clip onto them, followed by a review to check the fit and your bite.

Looking after it

Take the denture out every night, clean it, and clean around the implant attachments with a soft brush. Regular implant check-ups and hygiene visits keep the gums around the implants healthy. The small fittings inside the denture that grip the attachments wear with use and are replaced from time to time to keep the clip firm.

Common questions

How much is an implant-retained denture at Toothi?

£7,995 per arch, whether you need two implants or four. The CBCT scan is paid separately to the imaging centre, and a bone graft or sinus lift is only added if your scan shows you need one. Your total is confirmed in your written plan before treatment begins.

How many implants will I need?

Usually two for a lower denture and four for an upper, and the price is the same either way: £7,995 per arch. Your CBCT scan decides it, and the number is in your written plan.

Can I take it out?

Yes. It clips on firmly but you remove it to clean it and the implants, usually at night. If you want teeth that stay in permanently, ask about a fixed full-arch bridge.

Does it hurt?

Implants are placed under local anaesthetic, so placement itself shouldn’t hurt. Some soreness and swelling for a few days afterwards is normal. Read what implant placement really feels like.

Is it available on the NHS?

No. Toothi is a fully private practice, and dental implants aren’t available on the NHS for adults in England.
