If you’re in WD6 and weighing up a fifteen-minute drive, the fair question is: what does Invisalign actually ask of me, and is it worth the trip? Here’s the unvarnished version.

Honest Expectations

The time commitment, honestly

The number that matters is 20–22 hours a day. Not “most of the day.” Aligners work by applying continuous gentle force; take them out for a long lunch and a long dinner and a couple of coffees, and you’ve lost the force for hours, and the teeth simply don’t move on schedule. The people whose treatment overruns are almost always the people who wore them less than they said they did.

Practically, this means: they come out to eat and to drink anything other than water, then teeth get brushed and the aligners go straight back in. That’s a genuine change to how you snack. It’s the single biggest lifestyle adjustment, and it’s the one most people underestimate.

Your Visits

Appointments — and how we batch them for WD6

You’ll change aligners at home roughly weekly. In-practice reviews come around every six to eight weeks, and they’re short — ten or fifteen minutes to check tracking and hand over the next batch.

For a Borehamwood or Elstree patient, that’s the whole logistical question, and we handle it deliberately: we’ll give you several sets of aligners at a time where the case allows, put your reviews on a Saturday or Sunday, and batch anything else you need — a hygiene appointment, a check-up — into the same visit. Across a nine-month case that’s a handful of trips down the A5, not a weekly commute.

Simple Process

Your Invisalign journey

01

Free Consultation & Scan

We assess your teeth, take a free iTero 3D scan (no putty impressions) and show you a simulation of your possible result the same day.

02

Plan & Quote

Dr Ali designs your tooth movements digitally. You’ll know the number of aligners, the timescale and your exact fixed fee in writing before anything begins.

03

Your Aligners

We fit your first set and place any small tooth-coloured attachments. You wear each aligner 20–22 hours a day, with short reviews every 6–8 weeks.

04

Refine & Retain

Any final refinements are made, attachments come off, and we fit your retainers to keep your new smile exactly where it belongs.

The Full Picture

What treatment involves that nobody mentions in the ads

  • Attachments. Small tooth-coloured bumps bonded to some teeth so the aligners have something to grip and can perform rotations. They’re removed at the end. They are visible close up — this is the thing patients are most often surprised by.
  • IPR. Polishing a fraction of a millimetre of enamel between teeth to create space for them to move into. Painless, safe, standard, and far preferable to extracting a tooth — but you deserve to know it’s in the plan.
  • A lisp, for about a week. Then it goes.
  • Retainers, for life. Not optional. We include both removable and fixed.

Common Questions

Invisalign in Borehamwood & Elstree FAQs

How many appointments will I need if I’m travelling from Borehamwood?

Fewer than you’d think. Aligners change at home roughly weekly; in-practice reviews are every six to eight weeks and take ten to fifteen minutes. We batch aligner handovers and put reviews on Saturdays or Sundays, so a typical case means a handful of trips.

How many hours a day do I have to wear Invisalign?

20–22 hours. They come out only to eat and to drink anything other than water. This is the single biggest adjustment, and cases that overrun are almost always cases where they were worn less than claimed.

What are Invisalign attachments?

Small tooth-coloured bumps bonded to some teeth so the aligners can grip and perform rotations. They’re removed at the end of treatment, but they are visible up close — it’s the thing patients are most often surprised by, so we say it upfront.

How long does it take to drive to Toothi from Borehamwood or Elstree?

About fifteen minutes down the A5 or A41. The 292 bus also runs from Borehamwood through Edgware.
