Is Invisalign worth it? An honest guide for adults
Toothi London, Edgware · Last reviewed 25 October 2026
For most adults with mild to moderate crowding, spacing or relapse, Invisalign is worth it if you’ll wear the aligners around 22 hours a day. At Toothi in Edgware it costs £1,495, £2,495 or £2,995 depending on your case, with retainers, refinements, whitening and a hygiene clean included.
It isn’t right for everyone, and it isn’t magic. Whether it’s worth it for you depends on what you want to change, how complex your bite is, and whether you can live with the daily routine. Below are the good points, the usual complaints you’ll see online, and what you actually pay.
Who It Suits
When is Invisalign worth it?
Invisalign tends to be worth it when the problem is one aligners handle well and you’re motivated to wear them. Typical good candidates are adults who had braces as teenagers and have seen teeth drift back, people with crowding or gaps in the front teeth, and anyone who wants to straighten before bonding or whitening.
- ✓ Discreet. Clear aligners are hard to spot in normal conversation, which matters for many working adults.
- ✓ Removable. You take them out to eat and brush, so there are no food rules and cleaning is simpler than with fixed braces.
- ✓ Planned in advance. You see a 3D simulation of the planned movement before you commit.
- ✓ Clear timescales for simple cases. Front-teeth cases typically take around 3 to 9 months, depending on the package.
- ✓ A base for cosmetic work. Straighter teeth usually mean less tooth needs to be added to or reshaped for bonding or veneers.
The Downsides
What are the downsides of Invisalign?
The main downsides are the discipline of around 22 hours’ daily wear, taking aligners out for anything but water, and wearing retainers long term. If you’ve read Invisalign threads on Reddit and similar forums, the same complaints come up again and again. Most are fair, and most are manageable once you know about them.
- ✓ The discipline. Around 22 hours a day of wear is the single biggest factor. Aligners in a drawer do nothing. See our 22-hour rule guide.
- ✓ Snacking and drinks. Anything other than water means aligners out and teeth brushed before they go back in.
- ✓ Tightness. Each new set feels firm for a day or two.
- ✓ Attachments. Small tooth-coloured bumps help the aligners grip and can be noticed up close.
- ✓ Refinements. Some teeth need extra aligners at the end. At Toothi these are included, not an extra charge.
- ✓ Retainers for life. Teeth tend to drift without them. That’s true of every kind of brace, not just Invisalign. Our guide to Invisalign relapse explains why.
Cost
How much is Invisalign at Toothi?
At Toothi there are three fixed prices, matched to how much movement your teeth need. Your free consultation and iTero 3D scan tell you which one fits, and the price you’re quoted is the price you pay.
| Package | Typical case | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Consultation with iTero 3D scan | Everyone starts here | Free |
| Invisalign Go Express | Front-teeth crowding or spacing, typically around 3 months | £1,495 |
| Invisalign Go | Mild to moderate, typically around 6 months | £2,495 |
| Invisalign Go Plus | Moderate, typically around 9 months | £2,995 |
Prices are fixed and taken from our fees page. Every package includes the iTero scan and ClinCheck plan, all reviews, refinement aligners if needed, removable and fixed retainers, an Airflow hygiene clean and Boutique whitening, with no add-ons. A dental check-up and X-rays are needed before treatment, as you must be dentally fit to start. Complex cases are referred on to an orthodontist.
When you compare quotes anywhere, ask what’s included. Retainers, refinements, reviews and whitening are where totals tend to differ. Our Invisalign cost UK guide explains the cost factors, and Invisalign packages compares the three tiers in detail.
Spreading The Cost
Can you pay for Invisalign monthly?
Yes. We offer 0% finance over up to 10 months on treatment over £250, and longer-term finance through Tabeo, subject to status.
Representative example (Invisalign Go Express only): £1,495 over 60 months = 12.9% APR fixed, £33.06 a month, cost of credit £488.71, total to pay back £1,983.71.

When It Isn’t
When is Invisalign not worth it?
Invisalign isn’t worth starting if you know you won’t wear the aligners consistently, or if your gums or teeth need treatment first. Larger bite problems, such as most open bites or jaw-related issues, are beyond the Invisalign Go range and are referred on to an orthodontist. And if what bothers you is mainly the shape or colour of a couple of teeth rather than their position, bonding or whitening may answer it more directly. See Invisalign vs composite bonding. If aligners aren’t the right tool, we’ll tell you at the consultation.
The easiest way to decide is to see your own plan. Our free Invisalign scan shows you a simulation of your result and the exact package price, with no obligation. Or read more on our main Invisalign in Edgware page.

Common Questions
Is Invisalign worth it? FAQs
Is Invisalign worth the money?
For adults with mild to moderate crowding, spacing or relapse who will wear the aligners as directed, most find it worthwhile. A fixed, inclusive price means you know the total before you start.
How much is Invisalign in the UK?
Prices vary by clinic and case. At Toothi in Edgware it’s £1,495, £2,495 or £2,995, with retainers, refinements, reviews, an Airflow clean and Boutique whitening included.
Is Invisalign as good as braces?
For the cases it suits, aligners can achieve excellent results. Some complex bite problems are better treated with fixed braces by an orthodontist, and we refer those on.
Does Invisalign work for adults?
Yes. Adult teeth move well with aligners. Healthy gums and teeth are needed first, which is why a check-up and X-rays come before treatment.
What are the biggest Invisalign regrets?
The most common are not wearing aligners enough and not wearing retainers afterwards. Both are within your control.
Do I have to wear retainers after Invisalign?
Yes, long term, or teeth tend to drift. Removable and fixed retainers are included in every Toothi package.
Is the Invisalign consultation really free?
Yes. The consultation and iTero 3D scan are free, and you leave knowing your package and price.
