Composite bonding and porcelain veneers can both transform a smile, but they’re not the same treatment, and the right choice depends on your teeth, your goals and your budget. Here’s the plain-English comparison.
Composite bonding
Tooth-coloured resin is shaped directly onto your teeth, usually in a single visit. It’s more affordable, needs little or no drilling, and is easily repaired or reversed. Ideal for chips, small gaps and worn edges. Typically lasts around five to seven years.
Porcelain veneers
Thin custom shells are bonded to the front of your teeth. They cost more and are permanent, but they’re more stain-resistant and longer-lasting, making them the usual choice for a full smile makeover where you want a durable, dramatic change.
Which should you choose?
As a rule of thumb: bonding for smaller, budget-friendly, reversible changes; veneers for long-term full-smile transformations. The best answer comes from seeing your teeth in person.
