A dental bone graft at Toothi in Edgware costs from £395 for a minor graft or socket preservation, and from £995 for a major graft with a membrane. The final price is confirmed after your CBCT scan and assessment, and we only add a graft when your implant actually needs one. Plenty of implants need no graft at all. Here’s what drives the price.

Fees

What is the price of a dental bone graft?

Our bone graft fees sit in two bands, depending on how much bone needs rebuilding. It’s charged on top of the implant fee, and only where your scan shows you need it.

The Two Bands

Minor or major: which bone graft will I need?

The difference is how much bone is missing and how it has to be supported while it heals. Your CBCT scan shows the width and height of the bone, and that decides it.

  • ✓  Minor graft / socket preservation (from £395). Graft material placed in a socket after extraction, or a small top-up around an implant, to limit shrinkage and support the gum.
  • ✓  Major graft with membrane (from £995). Used where more bone has been lost. Graft material is placed and protected with a membrane while new bone forms, sometimes before the implant goes in.
  • ✓  No graft. If there’s enough healthy bone, there’s no graft and no graft fee.

Price Factors

Why does bone graft cost vary?

Grafting is priced on the work involved, and two people missing the same tooth can need very different amounts. The main factors:

  • ✓  How long the tooth has been missing. Bone shrinks over time once a tooth is gone.
  • ✓  Position in the mouth. Front teeth often need more support for appearance (see front tooth implants); upper back teeth may need a sinus lift instead.
  • ✓  Amount of bone lost from infection, gum disease or a difficult extraction.
  • ✓  Materials needed, such as a membrane for larger grafts.
  • ✓  Staging. Whether the graft can be done at the same time as the implant or needs to heal first.

We don’t do block or hip grafts at Toothi. If your scan shows that kind of reconstruction is needed, we explain why and refer you on.

Total Cost

What is the total cost of an implant with a bone graft?

A graft is charged on top of the implant fee. A single implant is £1,995. A minor graft is from £395 and a major graft with membrane from £995, each only if your scan shows it’s needed. The CBCT scan is paid separately to the imaging centre.

Your written plan sets out every fee before treatment starts. For the bigger picture, see dental implant cost in the UK, our molar implant cost guide and sinus lifts for implants.

Common Questions

Bone graft cost FAQs

How much does a dental bone graft cost in the UK?

Fees vary between clinics and by the amount of grafting. At Toothi a minor graft or socket preservation is from £395 and a major graft with membrane is from £995, confirmed after your CBCT scan.

How much is a bone graft for one tooth?

For a single tooth, most grafts fall into our minor band (from £395). If more bone has been lost, a major graft with membrane is from £995. Your scan decides which applies.

Is a bone graft included in the implant price?

No. The £1,995 single implant fee covers the implant, abutment, porcelain crown and reviews. A graft is added only if your scan shows it’s needed.

Do I always need a bone graft for an implant?

No. Many people have enough bone. A graft is only recommended when the scan shows the bone is too thin or short to support the implant well.

Is the CBCT scan included?

No. It’s taken at a referral imaging centre and paid to them directly. Your implant consultation at Toothi is free.

Does socket preservation after an extraction save money later?

It can help limit bone shrinkage after an extraction, which may reduce the need for larger grafting later. Whether it suits you depends on the tooth and your plans. We’ll talk it through before the extraction.
