Composite Veneers in London: 2026 Prices, How They Work and What to Expect

If you have been researching composite veneers in London, you will have noticed two things: prices vary enormously from one clinic to the next, and it is not always clear what you are actually paying for. This guide explains how composite veneers work, what they cost at our Edgware clinic in North London, what the price includes, how long they last, and how to decide whether composite or porcelain is the better choice for your smile.

What are composite veneers?

A composite veneer is a layer of tooth-coloured resin sculpted directly onto the front surface of a tooth by the dentist, then shaped and polished so it blends with the teeth around it. It is used to improve the colour, shape or symmetry of teeth that are chipped, worn, stained, slightly uneven or have gaps between them.

Unlike porcelain veneers, which are hand-made in a laboratory and bonded on at a later visit, composite veneers are usually completed in a single appointment, with little or no drilling of the natural tooth. That is why they are often described as a minimally invasive — and usually reversible — way to transform a smile.

You may also see the terms “composite bonding” and “composite veneers” used interchangeably. They use the same material and technique; the difference is coverage. Bonding typically repairs or reshapes part of a tooth (an edge or a chip), while a composite veneer covers the whole front surface. At Toothi, edge bonding is £195 per tooth and a full composite veneer is £295 per tooth, and our composite bonding page explains the edge-bonding side in more detail.

How much do composite veneers cost in London?

At Toothi in Edgware, North London, a composite veneer costs £295 per tooth — a fixed price, not a range. Edge bonding, where only a chip or worn edge is rebuilt rather than the whole surface, is £195 per tooth. Your consultation is free, and every plan is confirmed with a written quote before any treatment begins.

Six composite veneers across the upper front teeth are £1,595, a full smile line of eight is £1,995 and ten teeth are £2,395 — the per-tooth price comes down as the number goes up. Every figure above is published rather than quoted on the day, so you can compare it against any other clinic before you book. Edgware is at the end of the Northern line, with the clinic a two-minute walk from the station at 1 Handel Parade, Whitchurch Lane, HA8 6LD. You can see our full price list on our fees page, and spread the cost with 0% finance over up to 10 months on treatment over £250, subject to status.

What the price includes

Every bonding and veneer price at Toothi includes the consultation, the shade match, the treatment itself and a review appointment. Two things are priced separately because not everyone needs them: whitening beforehand, if you want a brighter base shade to match the composite to, is £250 in practice or £350 with custom home trays; and a nightguard, if you grind your teeth, is £195. Nothing else is added after your written quote. If you want the national picture rather than the London one, our composite bonding cost guide covers UK prices.

Why composite veneer prices vary across London

Published prices for composite veneers vary widely from one London clinic to another, and the headline figure on its own rarely tells you much. Four things move it. The first is coverage: an edge repair uses a fraction of the material and time a full-surface veneer does, so a practice quoting for edge bonding and one quoting for veneers are not quoting for the same thing. The second is the composite system itself, which differs in how well it polishes and holds colour. The third is chair time — sculpting and polishing by hand is what decides whether the result looks natural or bulky, and it cannot be rushed. The fourth is inclusions: some published prices cover the consultation and a review appointment, and some do not.

The practical advice is to ask any clinic for the price and the inclusions together, in writing, and compare them side by side rather than comparing headline figures.

Composite or porcelain — which is right for you?

Both treatments can transform a smile, but they suit different situations.

  • Composite veneers are completed in one visit, cost less per tooth, usually need no drilling, and are typically reversible. The trade-off is that composite stains and wears faster than porcelain, typically lasting 4–7 years before it needs refreshing or replacing.
  • Porcelain veneers are hand-crafted in a laboratory, exceptionally natural-looking and highly stain-resistant, and typically last 10–15 years. They cost more (£895 per tooth at Toothi, £5,195 for six) and involve minimal preparation of the tooth surface.

A common pattern is to start with composite — a lower-commitment way to try a new smile — and move to porcelain later. If you are weighing up the two, our veneers page compares porcelain and composite veneers in Edgware in more detail, and we will always talk you through both honestly at your consultation.

It is also worth knowing when a veneer is not the right answer. If your teeth are healthy but discoloured, professional teeth whitening may achieve what you want with less treatment. If crowding or gaps are the main issue, straightening with Invisalign first often gives a better long-term result than covering misaligned teeth. And if you are considering changing several things at once, a smile makeover plan can combine whitening, straightening and veneers in the right order.

What happens at your appointment

  1. Free consultation. We examine your teeth, discuss the look you want and confirm composite veneers are suitable. You receive a written plan with exact costs before anything begins.
  2. Preparation. Usually none, or only light surface conditioning — composite veneers rarely need drilling or injections.
  3. Sculpting. Dr Ali El-Kabengi (GDC 270807), a general dentist with a special interest in composite bonding, layers and shapes the resin on each tooth, matching the shade to your natural teeth.
  4. Shaping and polishing. The veneers are refined, checked against your bite and polished to a natural gloss. Most cases are completed in a single visit.

You can see examples of real Toothi cases in our before and after gallery. Individual results vary, and what is achievable for your teeth is confirmed at your consultation.

How to look after composite veneers

Composite is more porous than porcelain, so it picks up stains from coffee, red wine, curry and smoking more readily. To keep veneers looking their best: brush twice daily and clean between the teeth, keep up regular hygiene visits, limit heavy staining foods and drinks where you can, and avoid using your front teeth to bite very hard things like pens, nails or ice. If you grind your teeth at night, a nightguard (£195) protects the composite — and your natural teeth — from chipping and wear.

Composite veneer FAQs

How much does a full set of composite veneers cost?

Most “full sets” cover the six to ten teeth that show when you smile. At Toothi, six composite veneers are £1,595, eight are £1,995 and ten are £2,395 — fixed package prices, confirmed in writing after a free consultation.

What is included in the price of composite veneers?

Your consultation, the shade match, the treatment itself and a review appointment are all included in the per-tooth price. Whitening beforehand and a nightguard afterwards are priced separately — £250 or £350 for whitening and £195 for a nightguard. Your written quote confirms the total before treatment starts.

Why do composite veneer prices vary so much between clinics?

Coverage, materials, chair time and inclusions all move the figure. An edge repair uses far less material than a full-surface veneer, and some published prices exclude the consultation or the review appointment. Ask for the price and what it covers together, in writing, and compare those side by side.

Is there a lower-cost option than composite veneers?

Often, yes. If the problem is a chipped or worn edge rather than the whole tooth, edge bonding at £195 a tooth may be all you need. If your teeth are well shaped but discoloured, whitening at £250 may achieve what you want. We will tell you at the free consultation if a smaller treatment would do the job.

Do composite veneers need replacing, and what does that cost?

Composite is repairable, so wear or a small chip is usually re-polished or patched rather than replaced. When a veneer does eventually need redoing it is charged at the same £295 per tooth, and many patients refresh two or three teeth at a time rather than the whole smile line.

Do composite veneers hurt?

Most patients find the appointment comfortable. There is usually no drilling and no injection, because the resin is added to the tooth surface rather than the tooth being cut back. If a tooth is sensitive, tell us and we can use local anaesthetic.

How long do composite veneers last?

Typically 4–7 years, depending on your bite, habits and how well they are maintained. Composite can also be repaired and re-polished in a single visit, which porcelain cannot.

Are composite veneers reversible?

Usually, yes. Because little or no natural tooth is removed, composite veneers can generally be adjusted or removed without permanent change to the tooth underneath — one of their biggest advantages over porcelain.

Can I get composite veneers on the NHS?

Cosmetic treatments such as veneers are not normally available on the NHS, which only covers treatment that is clinically necessary. Toothi is a fully private practice, which is why every fee is published in advance and 0% finance is available on treatment over £250.

Is Edgware really “London”? How do I reach you?

Yes — Edgware is in the London Borough of Barnet, North London, served by the Northern line (Edgware station) and numerous bus routes. The clinic is at 1 Handel Parade, Whitchurch Lane, Edgware HA8 6LD, a two-minute walk from the station, and we see patients from across North London and Hertfordshire.
