The pressure is usually strongest in the first day or two after you switch to a new set of aligners, then settles quickly as your teeth adjust. Because you change aligners roughly every one to two weeks, you may feel that brief tightness each time you move up a set. Many people find that changing to a new aligner in the evening means they sleep through the most noticeable part.
How Invisalign compares to fixed braces
Invisalign is generally gentler than traditional metal braces. There are no brackets or wires to rub against the inside of your cheeks and lips, so you avoid the mouth ulcers and soft-tissue irritation that fixed braces can cause. Simple ways to stay comfortable
If a new set feels tight, there’s plenty you can do: change into new aligners at night, drink cool water, and use over-the-counter pain relief for the first day if you need it. Chewing gently on aligner “chewies” helps the trays seat properly, which can actually reduce discomfort.
